My experience at Duquesne University is to have many jobs and find a job for my future. The kinds of jobs I’ve had over this year are working at Carlow University mailing room on Mondays and Wednesdays. On Thursday mornings I work at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing putting packets together. On Fridays, I clean the Skywalk. The stuff I do is cleaning the glass doors, taking out the garbage, sweeping and dusting. I also love all of these jobs because my co-workers are nice and they help me whenever I ask for help. One of these jobs has some different rules for me to follow and these rules help me to do a better job.

I use a public transportation to Carlow and from Carlow. I also have to know when to tug on the rope to get off the bus and I also have to learn to look both ways to cross the street so I do better because I get graded so I can earn my independence.

I also have two classes on Tuesdays. The classes are Behavioral Health where we discuss about peer pressure and how it affects on us. The other class is Daily Living where we discuss about doing resumes for jobs and it helps us for the future. We also talk about our future like paying bills, shopping for ourselves.

I love Duquesne University because I like to meet new people and make new friends. I participate in the Best Buddies Program where we get together and meet your buddy. They are students at Duquesne University. We go to dances, go to parties and sports activities. It’s really fun when you get used to it and it is really nice to be with your buddy. You know what their hobbies are. We get together one day a month. I also have lunch with my buddies to catch up with them on Tuesdays.

I have two more semesters before I can graduate and be more independent in school. I get some report cards to see how I do that semester which helps me to get smarter and confident.
I want to thank you for the scholarship money to be more independent and to have another great year at Duquesne University.
