2006 Scholarship Recipients

Following are the recipients of our scholarship fund. In each case, we believe the program involved will enhance opportunities and independence for young adults with Down syndrome.

Allissa Brandell, 20, of Northbrook, Illinois is in her second year at the PACE program at National Louis University in Illinois. She has completed development of independent living skills and will finish training to be a nursing assistant.

Elizabeth BaroneElizabeth Barone, 19, of Dix Hills, New York. Ms. Barone attends Suffolk County Community College in Seldon, New York and is studying American Sign Language

Audrey BasfordAudrey (Katie) Basford, 27, of Winchester, Ohio. Ms Basford is pursuing a degree in science at Southern State Community College in Sardinia, Ohio.

Amy GarciaAmy Garcia, 20, of Westminster, Colorado. Ms. Garcia will attend the occupational training program at Eastern New Mexico University at Roswell.

Tobias WolfTobias Wolf, 26, was born in Germany and received his first 11 years of education there. Since that time, he moved to Vashon, Washington, where he learned English. He attended Vashon High School for two years, and graduated with the class of 2000. Tobias is currently in Germany and will be returning to a program to be defined in the Seattle, Washington area. His goal is to become a Teacher’s Assistant.
