For seven years, Band of Angels hosted an annual spring fundraiser, Starry Night, to raise money to increase opportunities for children with Down syndrome and their families. Due to the softening of the economy in the metro Detroit region, we suspended that event for the past two years. Our operating budget has been cut to correspond to the reduction in revenues created by this change, but we have maintained our programming for children and adults with Down syndrome.
This was our first year to participate in the Joe Bologna golf event. It was the perfect year to have some outside support to help Band of Angels achieve goals of helping others. Participation from this event has allowed us to continue to grow and provide new parent packages, fitness programs and scholarships.
We thank all of you who participated from the bottom of our hearts for golfing, eating, bidding and buying! The day was perfect at 80 degrees with sunshine. Golf, as coordinated by David Graulau at Greystone Golf Club was organized, fun and fast! Food was delicious and our emcee, Paula Tutman, gave us fun-raising along with our fundraising.
So many of you also contributed auction and raffle items, also making the event a bit more special for each participant. Thank you.
You are now a part of the Band of Angels family and we look forward to working and playing together in the future. Support of our mission through the Joe Bologna Golf Outing for Down syndrome is greatly appreciated.
Warmly,
Cynthia Hutchison
