Cynthia Kidder is the founder of Band of Angels She is a graduate of Allegheny College in Pennsylvania.
After the birth of her third son, Jordan, who has Down syndrome, Kidder turned her professional energies to increasing the visibility and opportunities for persons with disabilities. Prior to that time, Kidder worked in National Account Sales with Sprint.
Since 1995, Band of Angels has been the benchmark of high quality visual products representing persons with Down syndrome. She is a frequent speaker at regional, state and national conferences on education of students with Down syndrome, autism and other learning differences.
Cynthia currently serves as an appointee of Governor Jennifer Granholm on the Michigan Rehabilitation Council. She is also a member of the Advisory Board for Vista Maria in Dearborn. Cynthia has served a three year term on the Special Education Advisory Committee to the Michigan State Board of Education (appointed by then Gov. John Engler), and on the National Down Syndrome Congress board.
Cynthia Kidder was also chosen as one of Woman's Day "Women Who Make a Difference" in 2006 and was honored in May 2007 as a Michiganian of the Year by the Detroit News. in November 2008, she was named a Diversity Champion by Corp! Magazine. Cynthia lives in Rochester Hills, Michigan with her sons, Harper and Jordan.
